A Silly Grin In NZ #4

Ready set - Nearly!

4 sleeps to go before Mild-Hogs-are-go! It has seemed so long coming and usual story, now running out of time before we go!

We had a great weekend at Phil & Kerri's place in Tauranga to all meet each other, (well... me!). The plan being for Nev & I to ride down there and back, normally a great ride down through the Karangahake gorge through Waihi, Katikati. Not this weekend, no! This Saturday a weather bomb decided to hit! And hit it did. A lot of rain and horizontal, such strong cross winds. Would have been very uncomfortable and more than a little dangerous. We knew Murphy was alive and well and that Sunday would be a fantastic day and guess what? It was! Oh well, such is life.

Anyway, great team, good people; all looking forward to covering some miles in a big land. Murray made same sacrifice coming up from Wellington by car because of the weather, he too was looking forward to the ride. Much fun was had trying to get their BlueTooth units working in their helmets, Nev & I now have ours and will have to 'pair' them in LA. Looks like I to not only have ride with them, I have to listen to them singing 'Rhinestne Cowboy' & 'Is This The Way To Amarillo' as well!! Could be worse, as long as there's no Barry Manilow or Abba I'll survive.

NZ Mild Hogs - USA Tour

Me you all probably know, with Nev alongside, then Phil & Murray. Never have you seen a finer looking bunch of kerosene cowboys!

A friend at work Richard Driver, (who is a USA veteran and lent me the benefit of his hard miles in the USA) very generously and also rather bravely had offered to do swapsies on bikes on way home one night! He has a Streetglide just like we're using in the USA so it was a great opportunity to try it out! It was great! Very different to the Hornet but comfortable and strong, you use your body weight a lot differently especially into the corners. Soooo looking forward to covering some big miles on one of these bikes. The stereo & cruise control are an added bonus! Thank you Richard.

Anyway, must go and pack, limited space but only taking 4 t-shirts, 3 socks & 2 pairs of undies so how hard can it be!!!! :)
